Job Requirements
- Sufficient education to demonstrate functional literacy

- ability to comply with infection control and safety regulations
- capability to manage physical tasks including cleaning and food service duties
- strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients, residents, family members and staff
- ability to follow detailed procedural guidelines
Job Qualifications
- Functional literacy
- ability to follow dietary and safety procedures
- strong communication skills
- preferred previous food service and/or food preparation experience
- preferred experience in long term care dietary service
- ability to operate kitchen equipment
- ability to attend continuing educational programs and mandatory in-services
Job Duties
- Follows diet orders and NPO diet orders
- assists cook in preparing meals, desserts and/or snacks for patients/residents
- uses proper food handling processes, procedures and policies
- delivers trays to patients/residents on halls
- delivers and serves meals to patients/residents in dining area
- prepares between-meal nourishments and serves in accordance with procedural guidelines
- offers menu substitutions and records them in accordance with procedural guidelines
