Job Requirements

  • Sufficient education to demonstrate functional literacy
  • No prior experience required, on-the-job training is provided
  • Ability to follow directions and dietary orders
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, residents, and staff
  • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and following safety regulations
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts

Job Qualifications

  • Sufficient education to demonstrate functional literacy
  • Previous food service and/or food preparation experience preferred
  • Long term care dietary experience is preferred
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to follow established dietary and safety protocols

Job Duties

  • Follows diet orders and NPO diet orders
  • Assists cook in preparing meals, desserts and/or snacks for patients/residents
  • Uses proper food handling processes, procedures and policies
  • Delivers trays to patients/residents on halls
  • Delivers and serves meals to patients/residents in dining area including food and beverages
  • Prepares between-meal nourishments such as sandwiches and serves in accordance with procedural guidelines
  • Offers menu substitutions and records them in accordance with procedural guidelines
