Job Requirements

- prior experience in food service or dietary aide role preferred
- ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and standing for long periods
- knowledge of kitchen sanitation and safety standards
- ability to follow instructions and protocols

Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- one or more years of experience in food service role in preparing food for institutions such as schools, hospitals, or cafeterias preferred
- ability to follow infection control and safety procedures

- attention to detail in food preparation and sanitation
- basic understanding of dietary restrictions and special diets
Job Duties
- Washes/cleans and sanitizes kitchen cookware, utensils, dishes, trays, and any service prep items
- empties trash receptacles into dumpster
- cleans kitchen areas including cooking areas, prep area, restrooms, serving counters, dishwashing area, dry storage area, cooler and freezers per policy with appropriate chemicals and processes
- assists cooking staff in meal preparations including mixing, ingredient measuring, cutting, stirring
- assists with unloading and stocking of storage areas and coolers/freezers during truck food deliveries
- serves food to patients and staff at the serving counter
- stocks consumable products, napkins, cups, plastic ware, condiments
- cleans dining area after meals including floors, tables, seats, beverage stations
- assists cook and plans individual schedule so that all foods assigned are properly prepared and ready at appropriate times
- assembles items needed for preparation from low temperature storage units and storerooms
- prepares snacks, floor stock, late trays, salads, desserts, beverages, bread, and condiments for serving and delivery
- sets up steam table attractively and for easy serving in standardized portions, labels food according to modification
- services and restocks food throughout serving period and communicates with cook to ensure timely replenishment
- prepares leftover food for proper storage, labeled with description and date
- assists with cleaning steam table and pans
- transports, sorts, and washes all dishes from dining room and units using dish machine
- scrubs and disinfects pots and pans
- returns clean items to storage areas
- records dish machine temperatures at each meal washing service
- keeps dish room, utility room, and pot and pan area clean and orderly, free from standing water
- transports trash to dumpster
- provides information to nursing staff regarding patient responses to foods
- adheres to menu and special diet compliance and reports dietary concerns to dietician or supervisor
- assists with receiving and checking in food and supplies to ensure proper handling and storage
