Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Some food service work experience
- Ability to work independently
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to manage meal service for approximately 20 residents
- Ability to follow dietary guidelines
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
- Must be able to stand for long periods
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to perform cleaning duties according to sanitation policies
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Must maintain professional appearance
- Must maintain safety and universal precautions

Job Duties
- Handle, transport and plate food for residents, guests and employees
- Plate food according to the planned menu using standard recipes
- Plate food items following portion guidelines and garnishing instructions
- Assist other kitchen staff as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Ensure that sufficient food is prepped and/or prepared
- Communicate with supervisor of shortages or outages
- Ensure freshness, cooking status and proper temperature of all food being served
- Maintain all daily logs, postings and documentations required for meal services
- Stock and clean station for next shift
- Follow proper food rotation policies
- Handle food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures
- Operate equipment in a safe manner
- Report any discrepancies in his/her area to executive chef
- Deliver and retrieve food carts to and from satellite kitchens
- Set up service line and prepare for meal service
- Wash, sanitize and properly store dishes and utensils from meal services
- Monitor and control use of soap and cleaning agents in dishwasher
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout work areas
- Perform daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Scrub and mop floors, clean and sanitize equipment
- Inventory and stock food and paper goods in satellite kitchens
- Prepare snacks and beverages for between-meal service to residents
- Report malfunctioning equipment to the executive chef
- Consistently maintain a positive attitude which supports a team environment
- Promote positive public relations with residents, family members and guests
- Be knowledgeable of the resident rights, and ensure an atmosphere which allows for privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment
- Maintain safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management and security
- Clean and inspect kitchen appliances and work areas in order to ensure cleanliness and functional operation
- Present professional appearance by wearing uniform and name tag
- Maintain a positive attitude which supports team performance and productivity
