Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler's Permit
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions and follow safety practices
  • Must be dependable, detail oriented, and organized
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Physical ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, sit, twist, bend, squat, kneel or crouch during job duties
  • Adequate sight and hearing
  • Must be cordial and congenial with residents
  • Ability to react calmly in emergency situations
  • Must demonstrate patience and compassion for senior adults
  • Compliance with organizational and state food code dress standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler's Permit
  • Training in Servsafe is beneficial
  • One year of food service experience preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions
  • Cordial and congenial with residents
  • Dependable, detail oriented, organized with good follow-through
  • Ability to work within standard policies and procedures with limited direct supervision
  • Ability to handle various tasks and functions
  • Patience and compassion with senior adults
  • Considerate of residents' comfort, safety, security, and belongings
  • Time management and ability to establish priorities
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area
  • Knowledge and understanding of food safety, sanitation, preparation and serving principles
  • Ability to work well with people including employees, residents, families, and healthcare professionals

Job Duties

  • Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service including serving food under the guidance of the Chef or Dietitian
  • Deliver dishes, trays, and designated times and rooms
  • Assist in setting up and clearing up dining areas with attention to cleanliness and order including dish, tray, trash, leftover removals
  • Follow all sanitation guidelines, federal/state regulations, and Senior Living/Healthcare requirements, maintain cleanliness of prep items
  • Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled and/or needed
  • Provide customer service and hospitality during nutrition delivery
