Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- prior experience in food service or healthcare food preparation preferred
- ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- ability to bend, reach, and carry within normal limits
- fine motor skills and visual acuity
- ability to work in hot, cold, and ventilated kitchen environment
- effective verbal and written communication skills
- ability to handle emotional and stressful situations
- flexibility to work beyond normal hours and in other temporary positions when necessary
Job Qualifications
- willingness to work with and understand geriatric residents and their needs
- ability to read, write and communicate in English
- ability to take direction and constructive criticism
- ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and fellow employees
- tactfulness in dealing with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government personnel
Job Duties
- Assure accurate tray set up of meal service
- ensure cleanliness and sanitation of flatware, dishware, pots and pans
- maintain sanitation of kitchen equipment and kitchen environment
- prepare meal specials according to Federal and State regulations and therapeutic diets
- follow food safety standards and service schedules
- comply with facility policies
- communicate effectively with supervisors, residents, family members, and staff
