Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior experience in food service or healthcare food preparation preferred
  • ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • ability to bend, reach, and carry within normal limits
  • fine motor skills and visual acuity
  • ability to work in hot, cold, and ventilated kitchen environment
  • effective verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to handle emotional and stressful situations
  • flexibility to work beyond normal hours and in other temporary positions when necessary

  • willingness to work with and understand geriatric residents and their needs
  • ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • ability to take direction and constructive criticism
  • ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and fellow employees
  • tactfulness in dealing with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government personnel

Job Duties

  • Assure accurate tray set up of meal service
  • ensure cleanliness and sanitation of flatware, dishware, pots and pans
  • maintain sanitation of kitchen equipment and kitchen environment
  • prepare meal specials according to Federal and State regulations and therapeutic diets
  • follow food safety standards and service schedules
  • comply with facility policies
  • communicate effectively with supervisors, residents, family members, and staff
