Job Requirements

  • sufficient education to demonstrate functional literacy
  • no prior experience required, on-the-job training is provided
  • ability to follow dietary and food safety procedures
  • good communication skills
  • physical ability to perform cleaning and food service tasks
  • willingness to comply with infection control and safety guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • sufficient education to demonstrate functional literacy
  • previous food service and/or food preparation experience preferred
  • long term care dietary experience preferred
  • ability to communicate well with patients, residents, clients, and family members in a professional manner
  • willingness to participate in mandatory training and continuing education
  • ability to comply with infection control, safety and corporate compliance policies

Job Duties

  • follows diet orders and npo diet orders
  • assists cook in preparing meals, desserts and/or snacks for patients/residents
  • uses proper food handling processes, procedures and policies
  • delivers trays to patients/residents on halls
  • delivers and serves meals to patients/residents in dining area
  • prepares between-meal nourishments and serves in accordance with procedural guidelines
  • offers menu substitutions and records them in accordance with procedural guidelines
