Job Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties
- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing food practices
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Must possess sight and hearing senses or use prosthetics that enable these senses
- Must meet general health requirements including physical examination as per facility policies
- May require lifting of weights from a minimum of 5 pounds to a maximum of 50 pounds periodically or as needed.

Job Duties
- Work with the Facility's Dietitian and Food Services Director as necessary and implement recommended changes as required
- Ensure that all food procedures are followed in accordance with established policies
- Must adhere to all HIPAA requirements
- Prepare and/or deliver to the nurses' station juice, applesauce and pudding for med passes at appropriate times
- Complete set up of resident meals trays according to specified diets including napkins, place mats, silverware, glassware, and appropriate condiment for meals
- Place appropriate hot and cold food items on residents' trays at mealtime according to menu, diet cards, or instructions
- Prepare sandwiches, juices, special and meal items according to diet cards and place on trays at meal times
- Prepare and/or deliver food items for restorative programs as designated
- Deliver all meal trays to appropriate nursing floor destinations and retrieve trays and dishware before end of shift
- Breakdown trays and items by dishwashing, putting items away, and restocking chemicals
- Take out trashcans after meals, sweep, mop, and sanitize work areas
- Accept and fulfill phone calls and requests from nursing staff and residents
- Assist cook when needed
- Make authorized food substitutions
- Assist in food preparation for special meals and parties
- Prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations and established policies
- Follow infection control precautions
- Maintain clean and safe department and equipment
- Report hazardous conditions and incidents to supervisor
- Maintain food storage cleanliness and order
- Dispose of food and waste properly
- Wear protective clothing when handling infectious waste
- Report missing or illegible labels or MSDSs
- Ensure food and supplies are ready for next meal
- Assist in inventory and storing incoming food and supplies
- Work in well-lighted, ventilated, and warm kitchen areas
- Liaise with other departments for food services planning.
