Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in food service or healthcare setting preferred
- Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods
- Capability to bend, reach, stretch and carry within normal limits
- Good visual acuity and fine motor skills
- Ability to work in hot and cold kitchen environments
- Must be able to handle physical and emotional stress associated with the role
- Flexibility to work beyond normal hours and in different positions temporarily
Job Qualifications
- Willingness to work with and understanding of geriatric residents and their needs
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Ability to take direction and constructive criticism
- Capability to work cooperatively with supervisors and colleagues
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public
Job Duties
- Assure accurate tray setup of meal service in accordance with therapeutic diets and service schedules
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of flatware, dishware, pots and pans, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment compliant with federal and state regulations
- Prepare meal specials as required and adjust to facility policies
- Work cooperatively with supervisors and fellow employees
- Communicate effectively with residents, family members, visitors, and government personnel
- Adhere to safety protocols to prevent falls, burns, and other kitchen hazards
