Job Requirements

  • Education high school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • basic understanding of dietetics and medical terminology a plus
  • ability to read, write and speak English
  • prior health care experience preferred
  • strong organizational and communication skills
  • ability to work flexible schedules
  • ability to maintain professionalism under stress

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent highly preferred
  • additional college training in dietetics or related field preferred
  • previous health care experience or demonstrated knowledge of dietetics and medical terminology preferred
  • demonstrates priority setting and organizational skills
  • maintains professionalism and ability to establish rapport with patients, family members, staff and physicians
  • flexible to work a variety of shifts and variable schedules

Job Duties

  • Exhibits Mount Carmel Service Excellence Behavior Standards holding self and others accountable and role modeling excellence
  • promotes a culture of safety by adhering to policies and procedures to prevent workplace injury and adverse outcomes
  • visits all assigned patients assisting with menu selections
  • responds to patient needs and requests in a timely manner
  • demonstrates knowledge of special modified diets using department policies and procedures
  • utilizes appropriate computer systems including Patient Care System, CBORD Diet Office Management, Palm Pilot for Bedside Menu Entry, ATK and Personal Registrar
  • checks patient trays for accuracy during meal service
