Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • minimum age of 16 years
  • knowledge of dietetics and medical terminology preferred
  • ability to read, write and speak English
  • previous healthcare experience preferred
  • strong communication and organizational skills
  • ability to work flexible shifts including 12-hour day shifts
  • professionalism and ability to work well with diverse populations
  • adherence to all organizational policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent highly preferred
  • additional college training in dietetics or related field preferred
  • must know how to read, write and speak English
  • previous health care experience or demonstrated knowledge of dietetics and medical terminology preferred
  • demonstrates priority setting, organizational skills and ability to remain calm under stressful situations
  • possesses a high level of professionalism and ability to establish good rapport with patients, family members, staff and physicians
  • flexibility to work a variety of shifts and variable schedules

Job Duties

  • Exhibits each of the Mount Carmel Service Excellence Behavior Standards holding self and others accountable and role modeling excellence for all to see
  • promotes a culture of safety by adhering to policy, procedures and plans that are in place to prevent workplace injury, violence or adverse outcome to associates and patients
  • visits all patients as assigned assisting the patient or family member with menu selections
  • responds to patient needs, requests in a timely manner
  • demonstrates knowledge of special modified diets using department policies and procedures to assure patient receives the diet ordered
  • effectively utilizes all appropriate computer systems including Patient Care System, CBORD Diet Office Management, Palm Pilot for Bedside Menu Entry, ATK and Personal Registrar
  • checks patient trays for accuracy during meal service
