Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, business administration, or related field
- Five years of progressive fundraising experience with major gift fundraising experience
- Ability to travel extensively
- High level of competency in Microsoft software products and web-based systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Commitment to high ethical standards and organizational values
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, business administration, or related field
- Five years of progressive fundraising experience with major gift fundraising experience
- Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification is preferred but not required
- Knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, especially major gift fundraising
- Experience or interest in science, engineering, mathematics, and education preferred
- Knowledge of federal and state legislation affecting charities
- Knowledge of special events planning and management
- Knowledge of volunteer resource management
- Strong personal ethics aligned with organizational values
- High proficiency in Microsoft software and web-based systems such as Visio and SharePoint
- Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with and motivate staff and volunteers
Job Duties
- Work closely with the AUI President and NRAO Director to establish annual fundraising goals
- Develop, plan, manage, and coordinate all fundraising program activities, including major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events, membership programs, and capital campaigns
- Identify and evaluate giving potential of prospects, develop cultivation and solicitation strategies
- Actively solicit, cultivate, qualify a portfolio of giving prospects and strategically manage relationships through face-to-face visits
- Provide advice on current and deferred giving devices to maximize gift and tax benefits
- Ensure successful prospect and pipeline management
- Maintain effective prospect tracking, record keeping, reporting, and administration
- Build relationships with community stakeholders to advance mission and fundraising goals
- Schedule and arrange meetings and cultivation/recognition events
- Craft development communications to promote the organization and fundraising activities
- Prepare and direct preparation of gift proposals, solicitation letters, and stewardship materials
- Identify, enlist, motivate, guide, and support volunteers for major solicitations
- Prepare and deliver fundraising presentations
- Provide education and training to staff and volunteers on fundraising and philanthropy
- Coordinate design, printing, and distribution of marketing and communication materials
- Work with consultants as needed in prospect research
