Job Requirements

  • Degree in food science, baking science, or related technical field preferred
  • minimum of 5 years culinary work experience including back of house restaurant and food manufacturing or corporate chef experience
  • proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • strong knowledge of food preparation methods and cuisines
  • knowledge of food ingredients and their functionality
  • passion for food and restaurant industry
  • comfortable speaking in front of groups
  • ability to work effectively in team environments
  • ability to develop strong working relationships with customers and suppliers
  • ability to manage multiple projects
  • strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • general knowledge of technical lab equipment
  • ability to lift 15 pounds
  • willingness to travel up to 30 percent
  • ability to manage recruitment and supervise interns

Job Qualifications

  • Degree in Food Science, Baking Science, or other technical field from an accredited institution preferred
  • minimum of 5 years culinary work experience including back of house restaurant experience and food manufacturing industry or corporate chef experience in a national restaurant chain or distributor
  • proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote
  • strong knowledge of food preparation methods and cuisines
  • strong knowledge of food ingredients and their functionality
  • passion for food and restaurant industry
  • effective public speaking and presentation skills
  • strong teamwork abilities
  • ability to develop relationships with customers and supplier partners
  • ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • strong verbal and written communication skills

  • general working knowledge of technical lab equipment such as viscometer, pH analyzer, salt analyzer, colorimeter

Job Duties

  • Lead innovation prototyping initiatives in strategic categories
  • provide application support for innovation projects within strategic product categories
  • support strategic customers culinary initiatives
  • design and deliver customer innovation presentations
  • participate in R&D projects focused on new product development and cost optimization
  • develop and execute training and education programs for internal and external sales force
  • conduct annual reviews of broker workshop best practices
  • identify and create new product and innovation opportunities with existing customers
  • lead white paper concept development
  • scout and report new business opportunities to sales channels
  • support sales and marketing by providing technical information and conducting product presentations
  • troubleshoot and resolve technical product issues
  • develop and maintain productive working relationships with suppliers and customers culinary, menu, R&D teams
  • manage recruitment, hiring, and day-to-day activities of Culinary R&D Intern
  • develop culinary gold standards and assist in commercialization of products
  • manage projects and become proficient in PLM software
  • perform other assigned duties
