Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of full-time paid employment in quantity cooking
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and write simple correspondence
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations
  • Valid Food Handler Permit or willingness to obtain it on the job
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work varied shifts
  • Must pass drug and alcohol testing for safety-sensitive position
  • Adherence to departmental policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Experience of at least one year in quantity cooking
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Skill in food preparation, cooking, and menu planning
  • Knowledge of nutritional value of foods

  • Valid Food Handler Permit or ability to obtain one
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • Basic mathematical skills to handle measurements and inventory
  • At least 21 years of age

Job Duties

  • Prepare meals according to the designated menu and number of persons to be served
  • Maintain security count of all utensils used at each meal and ensure their return before juveniles leave the eating area
  • Prepare or leave instructions for the preparation of snacks
  • Maintain kitchen inventory and request supplies as needed
  • Purchase weekly perishable food items as determined through inventory
  • Clean and keep all areas of the kitchen and storage space sanitary to meet health department sanitation codes
  • Provide proper care of kitchen equipment such as defrosting freezers, cleaning filters, and reporting equipment failures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
