Job Description

The 32nd District Agricultural Association, also known as the Orange County Fair & Event Center (OCFEC), is a prominent state agency under the jurisdiction of the California Department of Food & Agriculture. Governed by a nine-member Board of Directors, OCFEC is situated in Costa Mesa, California, spanning 130 scenic acres that include notable educational assets such as Centennial Farm and Heroes Hall Museum and Education Center. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Three or more years of relevant experience in museum or related fields
  • Experience in leadership or supervisory roles
  • Knowledge of veterans’ history and educational programming
  • Ability to work Wednesday through Sunday during peak periods
  • Must be able to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to pass background and security checks
  • Willingness to work irregular and flexible hours
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders

Job Qualifications

  • Three or more years of increasingly responsible experience in exhibit, theatre design, multimedia, museum or related environment
  • Knowledge of veterans’ history and issues
  • Knowledge of personal narrative art
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships
  • Ability to develop departmental budget and manage costs
  • Ability to analyze and resolve customer service issues
  • Ability to maintain calm and make sound decisions under stress
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership skills including coaching and morale building
  • Ability to organize, present, and communicate information effectively
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and delegate tasks
  • Experience working with museum collections and exhibits
  • Ability to coordinate public events and ceremonies
  • Ability to research and curate educational opportunities
  • Ability to develop partnerships with agencies and nonprofits
  • Ability to promote volunteer programs
  • Willingness to work irregular hours and varying shifts
  • Integrity and honesty to support the mission

Job Duties

  • Plan, develop, design, implement, promote and supervise Heroes Hall Museum and Education Center
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with Heroes Hall Veterans Foundation and other partners
  • Develop and manage departmental operational budgets
  • Analyze and resolve customer service issues
  • Maintain calm demeanor and make sound decisions under stress
  • Communicate and interact effectively with coworkers, volunteers, patrons, and other departments
  • Oversee volunteer programs and coordinate public events and ceremonies
