Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant field
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in recreation or parks management
- Experience supervising a large staff
- Proficiency in budget development and financial management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to use standard office equipment and software
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in public administration, recreation management, or related field
- Extensive experience in recreation or parks management with leadership responsibilities
- Experience in managing large teams and overseeing multiple facilities
- Strong knowledge of community recreation programming and facility operations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and manage budgets and strategic plans
- Proven ability to lead complex projects and navigate public processes
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Job Duties
- Work in partnership with the Director to lead, direct, manage and supervise the department
- Develop and help execute management plans and strategies for long- and short-range agency objectives and actions
- Recruit, train, coach, and retain staff throughout the division
- Represent the Director and division at meetings with city, state, and federal agencies and at public meetings
- Coordinate and manage complex and high profile projects involving competing interests and multiple objectives
- Oversee the Recreation and Golf Department including recreation programs, facility operations, and guest services to ensure quality experiences
- Manage and supervise department staff including managers, supervisors, and coordinators
