Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- one year customer service or clerical office experience
- previous healthcare setting experience preferred
- effective verbal and written communication skills
- strong interpersonal and time management skills
- knowledge of healthcare insurance systems including Medi-Cal, private insurance, and fee-for-service
- computer proficiency with scheduling, data entry, and electronic health records
- familiarity with HIPAA/HITECH and privacy regulations
- reliable transportation and ability to maintain regular attendance

Job Duties
- Works as a team with other staff to provide the best patient experience
- welcomes and greets patients, clients, visitors in a helpful and friendly manner
- provides information to incoming callers according to policies and guidelines
- schedules patient flow based on established protocols
- carefully screens patient registration information for accuracy
- gathers information via EHR and from clinical team to complete referrals
- utilizes third party payer and insurance portals effectively
- aids in proper use of billing codes with providers and support staff
- performs patient appointment preparation tasks
- maintains accurate medical records in compliance with standards
- processes releases of information requests following privacy regulations
- practices confidentiality and privacy protocols according to HIPAA/HITECH
- performs other duties as assigned
