Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one year customer service or clerical office experience
  • previous healthcare setting experience preferred
  • effective verbal and written communication skills
  • strong interpersonal and time management skills
  • knowledge of healthcare insurance systems including Medi-Cal, private insurance, and fee-for-service
  • computer proficiency with scheduling, data entry, and electronic health records
  • familiarity with HIPAA/HITECH and privacy regulations
  • reliable transportation and ability to maintain regular attendance

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Job Duties

  • Works as a team with other staff to provide the best patient experience
  • welcomes and greets patients, clients, visitors in a helpful and friendly manner
  • provides information to incoming callers according to policies and guidelines
  • schedules patient flow based on established protocols
  • carefully screens patient registration information for accuracy
  • gathers information via EHR and from clinical team to complete referrals
  • utilizes third party payer and insurance portals effectively
  • aids in proper use of billing codes with providers and support staff
  • performs patient appointment preparation tasks
  • maintains accurate medical records in compliance with standards
  • processes releases of information requests following privacy regulations
  • practices confidentiality and privacy protocols according to HIPAA/HITECH
  • performs other duties as assigned
