Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in computer data entry
  • Experience in dealing with the general public
  • Ability to speak Portuguese or Cape Verdean Creole
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to speak Portuguese or Cape Verdean Creole

Job Duties

  • Greets and registers patients in a dental office setting
  • Verifies and explains insurance coverage
  • Understands, explains, and applies sliding fee schedule regulations, rules, policies and procedures
  • Orients self-pay and underinsured patients regarding programs within the Health Center
  • Registers patients upon arrival ensuring demographic information is accurate and updated
  • Confirms patient appointments
  • Makes new patient charts ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Schedules patient visits courteously and resolves scheduling problems and concerns
  • Pulls charts for the week in advance
  • Processes mail daily
  • Collects patient balance payments and co-payments using facility computer system
