Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- completion of data entry test with minimum 4000 keystrokes
- completion of dental terminology test
- graduate of formal training program in medical reception or equivalent or customer service program
- two years experience as medical or dental receptionist or insurance processing
- two years experience in customer service
- one year experience with PC based data entry and look-up
- one year customer service experience within last five years
- demonstrated ability to organize work under pressure
- ability to function with multiple priorities and interruptions
- excellent oral communication skills
- excellent written communication skills
- proficiency in English
- ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
- adequate speech, vision, and hearing
- manual dexterity and handwriting skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- graduate of formal medical reception or customer service training program preferred
- minimum two years experience as medical or dental receptionist or insurance processing preferred
- two years customer service experience preferred
- one year experience using PC based data entry and lookup
- demonstrated ability to organize work under pressure
- demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and interruptions
- excellent oral communication skills
- excellent written communication skills
- experience working in a dental clinic preferred
Job Duties
- Interacts positively and professionally with patients and other customer contacts
- understands clinic operations and company policies to provide accurate information
- takes and relays messages for follow-up
- schedules patient appointments efficiently according to provider availability and treatment specifics
- exercises sound judgment in prioritizing urgent patient needs
- contacts patients to fill open appointment slots
- confirms future appointments
- facilitates scheduling with specialty providers
- notifies patients of copayments and coordinates information transfer
- reviews patient records prior to appointments for accuracy
- updates insurance information
- communicates patient charges and establishes payment plans
- collects payments at point of service
- reconciles charge and payment records
- collaborates with co-workers courteously
- participates in team problem-solving
- assists coworkers to balance workloads
- performs duties for other dental clerical positions as needed
- collects, tracks data and prepares reports
- performs additional tasks as directed by management
