Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Dental Assistant certification or credentials as required by state
  • Radiography certification or ability to become certified
  • Prior experience in pediatric dental assisting preferred
  • CPR / BLS certification or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and supplies for pediatric dental procedures
  • Assist the dentist and hygienist chairside (e.g. passing instruments, suction, mixing materials)
  • Take and develop intraoral and extraoral radiographs (X-rays)
  • Provide patient education to children and their guardians (infant hygiene, brushing/flossing technique, diet counseling)
  • Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment, following infection control protocols
  • Record and maintain accurate patient records and charts
  • Monitor and stock supplies, order as needed
  • Aid in behavior guidance and management techniques appropriate for children
  • Assist in emergency procedures (e.g. basic life support) when required
  • Support front office tasks as needed (e.g. scheduling follow-ups, patient check-in/out)
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
