Job Requirements
- At least 3-6 months of general experience related to dental assisting or customer service
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of accredited dental assistant program or combination of experience and education
- Specialized dental assisting experience for higher grade levels
- Radiological certification for GS-3 and GS-4 levels per federal regulations
- Time-in-grade requirements for federal employees where applicable
- Submission of transcripts or course lists if using education to qualify
- Compliance with federal radiological health and safety certification standards
- Documentation of volunteer or paid work experience relevant to dental assisting
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Experience in customer service
- Record-keeping capabilities
- Familiarity with clinic maintenance duties
- Completion of a 1-year accredited dental assistant or dental hygiene program
- Practical nurse training approved by state accrediting body
- Ability to perform chairside assistance in general or specialized dentistry
- Radiological health and safety certification
- Experience with digital radiography
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Job Duties
- Providing chairside assistance during dental procedures
- Setting up proper instruments for dental treatments
- Recording treatments rendered and maintaining dental records
- Exposing and processing digital oral x-rays
- Performing receptionist and customer service duties
- Maintaining clinic cleanliness and equipment
- Ensuring compliance with radiological health and safety standards
