Job Requirements

  • At least 3-6 months of general experience related to dental assisting or customer service
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of accredited dental assistant program or combination of experience and education
  • Specialized dental assisting experience for higher grade levels
  • Radiological certification for GS-3 and GS-4 levels per federal regulations
  • Time-in-grade requirements for federal employees where applicable
  • Submission of transcripts or course lists if using education to qualify
  • Compliance with federal radiological health and safety certification standards
  • Documentation of volunteer or paid work experience relevant to dental assisting

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Experience in customer service
  • Record-keeping capabilities
  • Familiarity with clinic maintenance duties
  • Completion of a 1-year accredited dental assistant or dental hygiene program
  • Practical nurse training approved by state accrediting body
  • Ability to perform chairside assistance in general or specialized dentistry
  • Radiological health and safety certification
  • Experience with digital radiography
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Providing chairside assistance during dental procedures
  • Setting up proper instruments for dental treatments
  • Recording treatments rendered and maintaining dental records
  • Exposing and processing digital oral x-rays
  • Performing receptionist and customer service duties
  • Maintaining clinic cleanliness and equipment
  • Ensuring compliance with radiological health and safety standards
