Job Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license (not revoked or suspended) with no more than 2 moving violations
- Must pass a pre-employment background check
- Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available
- Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status)
- Ability to obtain an Alaska Food Handlers Card
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to organize and prioritize work, and maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals
- Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards
- Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for a minimum of 8 hours per day
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in customer service or hospitality preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Knowledge of Alaska tourism or related experience is a plus
- Basic computer skills including point of sale (POS) systems
- Ability to comply with company policies and health and safety standards
Job Duties
- Accompany a range of up to 88 guests per train car, may have up to 3 cars assigned based on scheduled shift
- Give suggestions for dining, entertainment, optional excursions, and the following day’s itinerary
- Communicate with Denali area lodges regarding any special requests pertaining to the hotel, dietary, and mobility issues that may affect standard operating procedures at the lodge or with third-party vendors
- Effectively manage manifests to keep an accurate record of tour availability for future dates
- Routinely presents information for up to 88 guests at a time on a microphone
- Complete handwritten tour sale vouchers fully and legibly
- Regular entry of tours into a POS (point of sales) system
- Complete all necessary paperwork such as daily reports, luggage counts, and sales reports
- Assist in the reconciliation of all tour sales
- Assist with Food & Beverage operations when needed
