Job Description
The role primarily involves operating commercial vehicles to transport heavy equipment between the dealership’s facilities and directly to customers. This includes picking up new equipment from factories, such as those operated by John Deere, thus ensuring timely delivery and support to the sales department. Beyond transportation duties, the position requires maintaining the yard and equipment, maintaining accurate records of pickups and deliveries including obtaining customer signatures, and complying with all relevant certifications and regulations such as those from the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Job Requirements
- One plus years experience as semi-trailer truck operator
- A valid driver license is required
- Ability to lift items weighing upwards to 75 lbs repeatedly
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
Job Qualifications
- CDL license a plus but not required
- Experience operating commercial vehicles or heavy equipment transport
- Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations and compliance
- Ability to maintain accurate delivery and pickup records
- Strong physical stamina and attention to safety
- Good communication skills for instructing customers
- Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and yard upkeep
Job Duties
- Transport equipment to/from customers and/or between dealer facilities
- Pick up new equipment from a John Deere factory as required
- Support the sales department with equipment delivery
- Maintain the yard in order and perform maintenance duties when not delivering
- Maintain records of pickup and deliveries and obtain necessary signatures and receipts
- Maintain all required certifications in line with DOT, OSHA, and company policy
- Account for all time and distance traveled during assigned duties
- Maintain assigned trucks and related equipment in good condition
- Instruct customers on basic equipment operating procedures
- Perform other related duties as instructed by Service Manager
