Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly
- Ability to perform physical activities including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distances of 20 inches to 20 feet with or without correction, color vision, depth perception and field of vision
- Must understand and comply with food safety and sanitation procedures
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
- Must adhere to company policies and dress code
- Must report to work on time and as scheduled
Job Qualifications
- Less than high school education or equivalent experience
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Ability to solve arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Team player with a positive attitude
Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
- Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
- Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach products, loading/unloading heavy items, passing along suggestions or requests, and enhancing the shopping experience
- Answers telephone promptly and takes customer orders
- Takes customer orders at delicatessen counter
- Works as a team with co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Reviews orders for the day and practices proper sanitation procedures ensuring work area cleanliness
- Reviews food status and appearance for freshness
- Ensures adequate food supply and follows production list
- Anticipates product needs daily
- Prepares, finishes, and replenishes product as necessary
- Checks in product, puts product away, and may review invoices
- Runs department registers and receives payment where applicable
- Removes trash timely
- Maintains adherence to personal hygiene, dress code, company policies, and store guidelines
- Reports to work on schedule and on time
