Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to physically perform medium work including exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Must have clarity of vision at distances more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet with or without correction
- Must be able to perform physical activities including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Must be able to solve arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages
- Must report to work when scheduled and on time
- Must adhere to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment drug screen
Job Qualifications
- Less than high school education or equivalent experience
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Basic arithmetic skills involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred
- Friendly and professional demeanor
Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
- Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
- Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing items out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, passing along customer suggestions, and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience
- Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service including taking customer orders
- Takes customer orders at the delicatessen counter
- Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Reviews orders for the day and understands proper sanitation procedures to keep work area clean and neat
- Reviews food freshness and ensures an adequate food supply ready and on hand according to production lists
- Prepares, finishes, and replenishes product as necessary
- Checks in products, puts them away, and may review invoices
- Runs department registers, receives payments, and makes change where applicable
- Removes trash in a timely manner
- Maintains strict adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
- Adheres to company policies and store guidelines
- Reports to work as scheduled and on time
