Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Food Handlers Certificate (ServSafe or ANSI compliant organization)
  • Culinary Arts Certificate preferred
  • Ability to work open availability including weekends
  • Ability to stand and walk constantly during work shifts
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments
  • Ability to safely handle knives and kitchen equipment
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must adhere to health and safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • 18 plus years old
  • 2 plus years department or relevant experience
  • Advanced department knowledge
  • Advanced product knowledge including prepared foods, cooking techniques, and Oliver's recipes
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and operations-related applications
  • Demonstrated ability in knife handling, cutting equipment, and safety procedures
  • Demonstrated leadership and employee development skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrates financial acumen
  • Ability to support department workflow and act as backup when necessary
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to follow directions and established procedures with attention to detail
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Team-player with ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent customer service, address the needs of customers and answer their questions in a timely and effective manner
  • Maintain and apply an understanding of financial management principles to ensure decisions are financially sound and responsible for maximum productivity and profit of the Deli Department
  • Supervise, delegate tasks, and develop the Deli Kitchen Staff in the absence of the Executive Chef
  • Assist with completing Human Resources administration and compliance duties such as scheduling, reviews, time and attendance, policy compliance and terminations
  • Creatively work with the Executive Chef on designing Oliver's Own Products and menu planning
  • Oversee the production planning and quality control of the Home Meal Replacement program
  • Maintain display cases to ensure product quality including hot bar levels, cleanliness, FIFO rotation, accurate signs and pricing
  • Place vendor orders to maintain appropriate back stock levels
  • Breakdown and inspect delivery/vendor orders
  • Organize and properly store deliveries
  • Provide and maintain a professional work environment for departmental growth and development
  • Create and sustain collaborative and productive relations with coworkers and vendors
  • Answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • Operate and maintain equipment according to cleanliness and safety standards
  • Follow and ensure compliance with established procedures including weight and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Report safety hazards and violations immediately
  • Maintain and ensure maintenance of a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors
