Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • ability to lift 40 pounds
  • ability to stand for 5 consecutive hours
  • availability to work full-time hours
  • willingness to work flexible shifts including weekends
  • ability to follow company procedures and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in retail or food service management preferred
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • excellent customer service abilities
  • knowledge of deli and bakery products
  • ability to train and develop staff
  • understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • good communication skills
  • proficiency in scheduling and inventory management
  • ability to analyze sales data for operational planning

Job Duties

  • Greet and take care of every customer that enters the department
  • address all customer requests and concerns in a timely manner
  • uphold department standards by ordering, pricing, and merchandising all deli/bakery items
  • ensure that all deli/bakery products are up to company standards of freshness and prepared according to company procedures
  • manage deli/bakery associates by allocating and assigning tasks based on business needs
  • staff the department and partake in interviews
  • create staffing plans according to seasonal business needs
  • schedule for the deli and bakery departments
  • handle employee relations issues in collaboration with store manager and HR
  • provide training to new hires and existing employees
  • communicate store events, new products, and procedural changes to the team
  • uphold company safety standards and train employees accordingly
  • ensure compliance with Illinois Health Code regulations
  • maintain broad knowledge of bakery/deli products
  • keep up with special ordering needs for holidays and trends
  • review past sales and forecast data for staffing and ordering decisions
  • write department schedules that align with the store payroll budget
  • manage department product loss according to company policy
  • perform other related duties as assigned
