Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • ServeSafe certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire)
  • minimum of 1 year experience managing a deli or other food service successfully
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • good interpersonal and team-building skills

Job Duties

  • Understand and enforce all health, safety, and sanitation regulations
  • ensure all deli team members consistently follow these procedures
  • promote customer satisfaction and foster customer loyalty through excellent service and quality products
  • schedule and receive food deliveries
  • checking delivery contents to verify product quality and quantity
  • oversee food preparation methods, portion sizes, and presentation to ensure products meet company standards
  • monitor departmental budgets and payroll
  • review financial transactions to ensure spending aligns with approved budgets
  • create staff schedules and assign daily duties to ensure efficient operations
  • hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and provide corrective action for deli clerks as needed
  • maintain retail pricing strategies to support overall profit goals
  • keep records required by government agencies regarding sanitation, and food subsidies when appropriate
  • investigate and resolve customer complaints related to food quality, service, or other deli concerns
  • manage inventory of food and equipment
  • maintain detailed inventory records
  • assist with food preparation or service tasks as needed, including cooking, clearing, and serving
  • support the Store Manager as needed, including taking on-call responsibilities
  • ensure consistent quality of deli products through proper rotation, damage checks, and adherence to all food safety protocols
  • plan menus and manage food utilization based on anticipated customer demand, taste, popularity, and cost-effectiveness
  • perform other related duties as assigned
