Job Requirements

  • 18 years of age
  • ability to lift 40 pounds
  • ability to stand for 5 consecutive hours

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in deli or bakery department preferred
  • leadership or supervisory experience is an asset
  • strong customer service skills
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to manage a team and delegate tasks effectively
  • knowledge of food safety standards and health regulations
  • basic math skills for pricing and scheduling
  • ability to analyze sales data for decision making

Job Duties

  • Greet and take care of every customer that enters the department
  • address all customer requests and concerns in a timely manner
  • uphold department standards by ordering, pricing, and merchandising all deli/bakery items
  • ensure that all deli/bakery products are up to company standards of freshness and prepared according to company procedures
  • manage the deli/bakery associates by allocating and assigning tasks based on business needs
  • staff the department and partake in interviews
  • create staffing plans according to seasonal business needs
  • schedule for the deli and bakery departments
  • handle employee relation issues in coordination with store manager and HR
  • provide training to new hires as well as existing employees
  • communicate store events, new products, and procedural changes to the deli/bakery team
  • uphold the company’s safety standards and ensure all employees are trained accordingly
  • ensure compliance with Illinois Health Code rules and regulations
  • maintain broad knowledge of bakery/deli products
  • keep up on special ordering needs for holidays and special occasions
  • review sales records and forecasts for staffing and ordering decisions
  • write department schedules aligned with payroll budget
  • manage department loss of product and handle loss processing as per policy
  • perform other related duties as assigned
