Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum of three years' customer service experience
  • minimum of two years' experience in food service purchasing, preparation, or merchandising of perishable products
  • knowledge of buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management
  • ability to teach others
  • food safety certification or commitment to obtain within one month
  • proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations applications
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to follow safety and wellness guidelines

Job Duties

  • Ensure the department operates effectively and efficiently under the direction of the Deli DTL
  • supervise work performance and conduct of team members
  • model behaviors that support the cooperative's values and promote team building
  • address and report concerns with team members' behaviors or performance
  • create and facilitate trainings for team members
  • ensure new hires are trained appropriately
  • support security and safety protocols
  • order, receive, and merchandise products following guidelines
  • maintain knowledge of deli and store products
  • assist customers with product selections
  • ensure accurate and sanitary processing, packaging, and pricing
  • prioritize prep work, stocking, cleaning, and customer service
  • create and maintain a welcoming environment
  • assist in inventory counts and storewide cleaning
  • reinforce safety by complying with procedures and notifying management of unsafe conditions
  • ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and cooperative regulations
  • maintain and update ServSafe certification
