Job Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age due to required operation of Deli equipment
  • Previous cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, in a fast paced environment
  • Proficient knife handling skills
  • Eagerness to interact with customers
  • Ability to take initiative and make decisions independently regarding department needs and priorities, under general supervision
  • Strong sense of team – ability to anticipate the needs of the team
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, push/pull for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Serve customers in the Deli Department while modeling Sendik's culture and providing "best in class" customer service, which includes greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their business
  • Cook all items for the deli cold case and hot bar, including packaged foods, entrees, salads and soups while adhering to and following company recipes
  • Ensure that the deli case, wall and hot bar is always full and fresh with the best quality deli products
  • Observe and evaluate trends to determine the type and quantity of food to produce
  • Support special event stations including Sendik's and customer events
  • Answer questions regarding products and ingredients, offering suggestions and recommendations when appropriate
  • Maintain and update daily and weekly reports including sanitation, temperature and cooling logs
