Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older at the time hired
- Active, in good standing, and employed for at least 4 months to be eligible for $1,000 sign on bonus
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends
- Ability to follow company recipes and procedures
- Compliance with health and safety regulations
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
Job Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age due to required operation of Deli equipment
- Previous cooking experience preferred
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, in a fast paced environment
- Proficient knife handling skills
- Eagerness to interact with customers
- Ability to take initiative and make decisions independently regarding department needs and priorities, under general supervision
- Strong sense of team - ability to anticipate the needs of the team
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, push/pull for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Job Duties
- Serve customers in the Deli Department while modeling Sendik's culture and providing best in class customer service, which includes greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their business
- Cook all items for the deli cold case and hot bar, including, but not limited to, packaged foods, entrees, salads and soups while adhering to and following company recipes
- Ensure that the deli case, wall and hot bar is always full and fresh with the best quality deli products
- Observe and evaluate trends to determine the type and quantity of food to produce
- Support special event stations (ex. Fish Fry), including Sendik's and customer events
- Answer questions regarding products and ingredients, offering suggestions and recommendations when appropriate
- Maintain and update daily and weekly reports (sanitation, temperature and cooling logs)
- Ensure the kitchen is clean, organized and ready each day
- Assist with training and coaching of new associates within the Deli Department
- Assist with events when needed, including Sendik's events and customer events
- Package, price and label Deli items
- Assist Deli Department with stocking, rotating and facing the Deli wall
- Operate, maintain and clean deli equipment including knives, ovens, fryers, dishwashers, coolers and slicers
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures
- Assist with all other Deli Department duties as needed
