Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous experience in a deli or food service environment is advantageous
  • ability to operate basic cleaning and food preparation equipment
  • strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • good communication skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • physical capability to perform job duties including lifting and standing for long periods
  • commitment to following safety and hygiene protocols
  • willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Rotates, stocks and straightens merchandise and supplies
  • correctly prices all merchandise according to departmental guidelines
  • follows proper wrapping and packaging procedure including the use of the correct size tray and plastic wrap and/or container
  • performs basic housekeeping duties using available equipment (mops, brooms, floor scrubbing and buffing machines, etc.)
  • operates all required tools and equipment in a safe manner except when restricted due to age
  • follows all safety policies and procedures
  • cleans all required deli-bakery department tools and equipment
  • follows proper procedure for producing all bakery/deli products
  • standing and/or walking at a rapid pace for extended periods of time to perform essential job functions
  • ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • maintains a neat and clean work area
  • performs all essential job functions at an acceptable level of speed and accuracy
  • perform all job functions with limited supervision
  • may be required to decorate cakes
  • receives and unloads truck deliveries using available equipment and according to established guidelines
  • ability to lift and move items weighing over 50 pounds
  • ability to work in temperature extremes (frozen foods and storage cooler maximum low temperature, -10 degrees)
  • orders product according to established guidelines in the absence of deli manager
  • other duties as assigned
