Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous experience in a deli or food service environment is advantageous
- ability to operate basic cleaning and food preparation equipment
- strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- good communication skills
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- physical capability to perform job duties including lifting and standing for long periods
- commitment to following safety and hygiene protocols
- willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Job Duties
- Rotates, stocks and straightens merchandise and supplies
- correctly prices all merchandise according to departmental guidelines
- follows proper wrapping and packaging procedure including the use of the correct size tray and plastic wrap and/or container
- performs basic housekeeping duties using available equipment (mops, brooms, floor scrubbing and buffing machines, etc.)
- operates all required tools and equipment in a safe manner except when restricted due to age
- follows all safety policies and procedures
- cleans all required deli-bakery department tools and equipment
- follows proper procedure for producing all bakery/deli products
- standing and/or walking at a rapid pace for extended periods of time to perform essential job functions
- ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds
- maintains a neat and clean work area
- performs all essential job functions at an acceptable level of speed and accuracy
- perform all job functions with limited supervision
- may be required to decorate cakes
- receives and unloads truck deliveries using available equipment and according to established guidelines
- ability to lift and move items weighing over 50 pounds
- ability to work in temperature extremes (frozen foods and storage cooler maximum low temperature, -10 degrees)
- orders product according to established guidelines in the absence of deli manager
- other duties as assigned
