Job Requirements
- Less than high school or equivalent experience
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Ability to physically perform medium work involving exertion up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly
- Visual acuity to see clearly at distances greater than 20 inches and less than 20 feet with or without correction, including color vision and depth perception
- Ability to perform physical activities including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Willingness to adhere to company policies and personal hygiene standards
Job Qualifications
- Less than high school education or equivalent experience
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Ability to solve arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
- Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
- Assists customers by escorting them to products they are looking for, securing products that are out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, making note of and passing along customer suggestions or requests, and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience
- Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service including taking customer orders
- Takes customer orders at the delicatessen counter
- Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Reviews orders for the day and prepares, finishes, and replenishes product as necessary
- Ensures proper sanitation procedures and maintains clean and neat work areas
- Checks in product, puts product away, and may review invoices
- Runs the department registers and handles payments, change, and receipts
- Removes trash timely
- Maintains strict adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
- Adheres to company policies and store guidelines
- Reports to work when scheduled and on time
