Job Duties
- Greet all customers and respond to questions and requests in a courteous manner
- Wrap, package, and sell deli products including sandwiches, pizza, salads, sliced fruits and vegetables, sliced meats, cheese, desserts, party trays, garnishes, samples, and fried foods
- Process customer purchases quickly and accurately using electronic cash register, scanner, and scale
- Review daily perishable department communication board for updated materials and follow guidelines for sampling programs and intercom announcements
- Prepare and organize cooler, freezer, and preparation areas for receipt of merchandise
- unload trucks, verify deliveries against invoices, inspect merchandise for shortages, damage, and quality
- adhere to all local, state, and federal health codes and clean department floors, equipment, and preparation areas
- transport merchandise to sales floor and storage areas using stocking carts or pallets
- assure safety of self, customers, and co-workers by following store safety rules and reporting hazards
- operate equipment such as baler, case cutter, pallet jack, slicer, scales, fryer, stove, and more with proper safety measures
- evaluate product quality and mark down or reprocess damaged or unsalable goods according to policy
- check case and cooler/freezer temperatures four times daily and record using time keeping system
- stock sliced meat and cheese cases, salad cases, display cases, and counters
- perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned including substituting for absent workers and supporting peak business periods
