Job Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent and experience in grocery, restaurant, or related field or acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Be dependable and reliable
  • Exhibit outgoing, friendly behavior with a positive attitude
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers
  • Ability to work flexible schedules that include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to take direction and participate in a team environment
  • Ability to answer phones and take special orders
  • Ability to lift or carry products weighing up to 70 lbs from 4 to 60 inches for distances up to 20 feet without mechanical assistance for up to 4 hours
  • Ability to stand continuously for up to 4 hours, for a total of 8 hours per shift
  • Perform general housekeeping and clean and sanitize work areas
  • Operate slicer and cooking equipment and maintain them in safe working order
  • Adhere to safety, health, and weights and measures regulations
  • Achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit
  • Ability to work in different temperature environments including cooler and freezer
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working in grocery, restaurant, or related field

  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to lift and carry products up to 70 lbs
  • Food Handlers permit or ability to obtain one
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Prepare and arrange vegetables, sliced meats, and cheeses for sandwiches
  • Assist customers with catering orders and special requests
  • Operate slicer, wrapping and cooking equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of deli work areas including tables, floors, cases, coolers, and freezers
  • Adhere to food safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations
  • Respond to customer inquiries and take special orders by phone
  • Perform general housekeeping and equipment maintenance in the deli department
