Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years professional experience
  • Grocery retail deli/bakery experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain high customer service
  • Must adapt to high volume retail environment
  • Capacity to take initiative

  • Advanced attention to detail and prioritization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Must lead and support team
  • Knowledge of health department regulations

  • Follow recipes, specs, and schematics

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency degree
  • Minimum of 4 years professional experience
  • Preferred 3-5 years grocery retail deli/bakery department experience
  • Previous natural foods industry experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of retail grocery operations and organic products
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent customer service abilities
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements
  • Familiarity with health department guidelines and food safety regulations
  • Experience with food service equipment such as knives, slicers, scales, and ovens
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, changing retail environment
  • Capacity to lead and contribute to team goals

Job Duties

  • Prepares weekly sales and labor projections to maximize sales and profits
  • Monitors and controls costs including ordering, inventory control, shrink, and ad displays
  • Manages department staff including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance reviews
  • Oversees shift operations and approves work schedules
  • Ensures weekly flyer ad products are stocked and ready for sale
  • Stocks deli/bakery cases with accurate presentation, facing, and pricing
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety of deli/bakery aisles, storage, and work areas
  • Assists customers with product selection and purchases at deli/bakery counter
  • Receives, inspects, and logs shipments for accuracy and quality
  • Monitors product rotation to discard expired or spoiled items
  • Balances general ledger and financial statements to control department margins
  • Prepares for pre-inventory ensuring back stock and tags match products
  • Manages inventory control to prevent out-of-stock and over-stock situations
  • Uses scale, weight, and tare knowledge to weigh and label products properly
  • Maintains proper temperatures during production of deli, cheese, and bakery items
  • Keeps department organized, sanitary, and visually appealing
  • Performs other duties as assigned
