Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency degree
  • Minimum of 4 years professional experience
  • Preferred 3-5 years grocery retail experience
  • Experience in deli/bakery department processes and procedures
  • Previous experience in natural foods industry is a plus
  • Must maintain highest level of customer service
  • Ability to adapt to fast paced retail environment
  • Capacity to take initiative when problems arise
  • Flexibility to adapt in various situations
  • Advanced attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office including Outlook, Word and Excel

Job Duties

  • Prepares the weekly sales and labor projections for the deli/bakery department to maximize sales and profits
  • Monitors and controls all costs and expenses including ordering, inventory control, weighing procedures, shrink control, and ad displays
  • Manages deli/bakery department staff including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance reviews
  • Oversees shift operations including writing and approving department work schedules
  • Ensures weekly flyer ads are in stock and product for upcoming ads is ordered and available
  • Stocks deli/bakery cases, ensuring presentation, facing, filling, organization, and pricing accuracy
  • Ensures cleanliness and safety of deli/bakery aisles, storage, and work areas
  • Responds to customer inquiries and assists with purchases while promoting products
  • Receives, inspects, and logs product shipments for accuracy, temperature, and quality
  • Monitors product rotation and discards expired or spoiled items
  • Balances deli/bakery financial statements and department margins
  • Prepares pre-inventory including back stock and tag accuracy
  • Manages inventory control to avoid out of stock or overstock situations
  • Uses knowledge of scales and weights to accurately package and label products
  • Monitors proper temperatures during production
  • Maintains product knowledge and preparation skills
  • Ensures organized, sanitary, and clean department appearance
  • Performs other duties as assigned
