Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food safety certification or willingness to obtain within one month
  • Previous experience in deli, bakery, or food service preferred
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines including use of PPE
  • Ability to perform basic math operations
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Reliable transportation to commute to work
  • Able to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks
  • Commitment to ethical and professional conduct

Job Qualifications

  • Customer service skills with ability to complete full customer service cycle
  • Food safety certification or ability to obtain within one month
  • Knowledge of basic math including counting, addition, and subtraction
  • Ability to adhere to safety, regulatory, and wellness guidelines

Job Duties

  • Prepare deli food products and/or bakery products that meet quality and quantity standards
  • Follow department guidelines for labeling, dating, and packaging products
  • Serve case items following pricing and packaging procedures
  • Order, receive, and merchandise produce products while adhering to merchandising and sanitation standards
  • Consistently replenish products for freshness and visibility
  • Process known loss, invoice discrepancies, special orders, and transfers
  • Help customers make product selections and provide information about deli-bakery items
  • Prioritize time to handle cooking, baking prep, stocking, cleaning, and customer service efficiently
  • Decorate cakes with legible handwriting as assigned
  • Create and maintain a welcoming environment for customers
  • Assist in inventory counts and storewide cleaning projects
  • Reinforce safety by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions
  • Ensure compliance with regulations for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, sanitation, and weights and measures
  • Follow proper procedures for opening and closing
  • Maintain and update ServSafe certification
