Job Requirements
- One or more years of custodial work experience
- ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests from customers and others
- ability to utilize a wide array of custodial chemicals and general cleaning chemicals
- ability to safely operate custodial equipment such as vacuum, backpack vacuum, cardboard bailer
- effective written communication skills using appropriate business English
- computer literacy to use business software, the Internet, enter data/retrieve data
- human relations skills to build effective working relationships
- demonstrated customer service, problem solving and common sense skills

Job Duties
- Clean, dust, and wipe furniture
- sweep, mop, or vacuum floors
- empty and clean wastebaskets, trash containers and cigarette urns
- clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures
- refill restroom dispensers
- clean cafeteria and breakroom areas
- stock utensils, napkins, plates, cups, coffee and related supplies
- make coffee and/or set up snacks for events
- assist with the setup for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events
- follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies
- wash accessible interior and exterior windows
- clean blinds
- respond to customer requests for cleaning spills and other emergency clean-ups
- respond to customer requests for service such as cleaning locked offices not serviceable at night
- monitor inventory of cleaning supplies
- perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs using hand-operated tools or small power equipment
- move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis
- attend safety meetings and other related meetings
- take classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products
- handle recycling materials
- call in work orders
- perform other duties and special projects as assigned
