The Child and Youth Program (CYP) Cook position is a vital role within organizations that operate Child Development Centers (CDC) and School Age Care (SAC) programs. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • provide proof of educational qualification such as H.S. diploma, GED, or college transcripts
  • knowledge of food handling and preparation techniques
  • experience with sanitation and food safety procedures
  • ability to prepare and cook food in large quantities
  • effective communication skills in English
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • ability to multitask and manage complex cooking processes

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge and understanding of food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards, and safe work procedures
  • thorough knowledge of food preparation principles and ability to develop or revise recipes

Job Duties

  • perform a variety of food preparation and food service tasks for the child and youth program
  • assist with food preparation for the School Age Care program
  • develop and adjust recipes to accommodate large quantities and specific dietary needs
  • ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards
  • coordinate multiple cooking processes to serve food at optimal taste and temperature
  • maintain cleanliness and proper sanitation of kitchen equipment and utensils
  • evaluate food quality and initiate corrective actions when necessary
