Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 6 months work experience required
  • Data entry and keyboard experience required
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner)
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle high volume and time sensitive work
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to use multiple systems and reference materials
  • Knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedule preferred
  • CCS and/or Brokers license preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Experience interacting with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, and internal staff

Job Duties

  • Coordinate documentation required by US Customs and government agencies for entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers
  • Provide impeccable customer service
  • Process commodities requiring specialized classification and duty preference
  • Obtain correct classification of goods for customs release using databases, SOPs, tariff books, internet or customs resources
  • Enter and process import-related documentation for submission to US Customs and handle Participating Government Agencies documentation
  • Maintain shipment documentation in compliance with record keeping requirements
  • Adhere to international importing and exporting regulations
  • Collaborate with internal staff, departments, FedEx operating companies, customers, and government agencies to deliver high service levels
  • Process agency brokerage shipments
  • Handle remote filings
  • Perform entry reconciliations and entry reviews as needed
  • Follow up on customs matters and resolve problems
  • Ensure compliance with all government and organizational policies
