Job Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • minimum of 6 months work experience required
  • data entry/keyboard experience required
  • proficient in MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner)
  • ability to handle time-sensitive work
  • strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • problem-solving abilities
  • ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • ability to interact effectively with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, internal staff, and management at all levels
  • knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules preferred
  • willingness to perform other duties as assigned
  • ability to handle high volume of work
  • paid training provided

Job Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • minimum of 12 months of industry experience preferred
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • strong organizational abilities
  • proficient interpersonal skills
  • effective problem-solving skills
  • ability to handle a high volume of work
  • capability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • ability to use multiple systems and reference materials
  • knowledge of Customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules preferred
  • CCS and/or broker's license preferred
  • experience with MS Office and office equipment
  • prior data entry/keyboard experience

Job Duties

  • Provide impeccable customer service
  • process commodities requiring specialized handling to reduce liquidated damages and penalties through correct classification and duty preference
  • obtain correct classification of goods for customs release from databases, SOPs, tariff books, internet or Customs
  • data entry and processing of import documentation for submission to US Customs and PGAs
  • maintain and update shipment documentation in compliance with record-keeping requirements
  • adhere to all international importing and exporting regulations
  • coordinate with internal staff, departments, other FedEx entities, customers, and government agencies
  • process agency brokerage shipments
  • handle remote filings
  • perform entry reconciliations and reviews as needed
  • ensure compliance with government and company policies
  • follow up on customs matters and resolve issues
