Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • No industry experience required
  • Minimum of 6 months work experience preferred
  • Data entry and keyboard experience required
  • Proficient in MS Office and Outlook
  • Able to operate office equipment including phone, fax, photocopier, printer, and scanner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle high volume and time sensitive work
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experienced in using multiple systems and research materials
  • Comfortable interacting with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, internal staff, and management at all levels

Job Duties

  • Coordinate documentation required by US Customs and government agencies for entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers
  • Provide impeccable customer service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Obtain correct classification of goods for customs release using databases, SOPs, tariff books, internet or customs resources
  • Perform data entry and process various import-related documentation for submission to US Customs
  • Handle Participating Government Agencies (PGAs) if necessary
  • Maintain and keep current all shipment documentation in compliance with record keeping requirements
  • Adhere to all international importing and exporting regulations
  • Collaborate with internal staff, departments, FedEx operations, and customers to deliver high service levels
  • Process agency brokerage shipments
  • Handle remote filings if required
  • Ensure compliance with all government and organizational policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
