Job Requirements

  • Completion of vocational or technical degree
  • More than 3 years of customer service experience in customs brokerage or logistics
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills including ability to work in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive deadlines
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office and ability to quickly learn company software
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build strong customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions
  • Customs clearance experience is an asset

Job Duties

  • Maintain and develop first class client relations with the clients via phone and email regarding order shipments, discrepancies, billing, deliveries, etc.
  • Open files for new shipments by completing proper forms and entering data in the system
  • Monitor status of shipment arrival for timely coordination of clearance
  • Ensure that all documents required to release goods have been received
  • Communicate with customs officials, other government agencies, customers and internal departments
  • Review content of documents to validate compliance
  • Contact clients to obtain and confirm information related to documents such as descriptions of goods, address discrepancies, shipping manifests, commercial invoices etc.
  • Communicate with customs and other government agencies to resolve shipment issues
  • Manage track and trace shipment status via electronic monitoring and manual updates
  • Provide regulatory and operational guidance to customers on the US import process
  • Communicate with internal departments (accounting, technical, logistics, etc.) to coordinate shipment or client-specific needs
  • Assist and provide guidance to clients on job orders, billing, or operational questions
  • Propose suggestions to the Supervisor/Manager to improve communication and workflow at all levels of the operation and with importers
  • Perform other general clerical duties as needed
  • Validate and ensure completeness of Client SOPs for specific profile instructions
