Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED
  • prior experience working in customs brokerage trade compliance or related roles such as import export operations or freight forwarding
  • experience interpreting regulations tariff classifications duties and taxes
  • familiarity with customs software programs or electronic filing systems
  • ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • proven ability to address and resolve issues
  • experience analyzing data and documentation to identify potential issues

Job Duties

  • prepare and review customs documentation including import and export declarations and commercial invoices
  • maintain accurate customs records and ensure proper retention of documents
  • coordinate and oversee customs clearance processes including classification and duty determination
  • liaise with customs brokers freight forwarders and other relevant parties to facilitate timely customs clearance
  • determine correct tariff classification of goods based on their characteristics
  • ensure compliance with customs laws regulations and procedures
  • maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • identify and assess customs compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • identify opportunities for process improvement automation and efficiency gains in customs operations
