Job Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED required
  • 6 months of brokerage or transportation experience and/or customer service experience preferred
  • MS Office, Outlook, office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner) required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills

  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle high volume and time-sensitive work
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Detail oriented
  • Knowledge in HTS classification and familiar with harmonized tariff system
  • Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and federal requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six months of brokerage, transportation, or customer service experience preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Effective problem-solving abilities
  • Detail oriented
  • Knowledge of HTS classification and harmonized tariff system
  • Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations and federal requirements
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Job Duties

  • Provide impeccable customer service
  • Prepare, analyze, and/or submit documentation to appropriate parties to ensure compliance with customs laws and regulations
  • Anticipate, identify, and resolve problems that could delay freight release or movement
  • Maintain relationships with brokers and other service providers to exceed customer service expectations
  • Resolve banking and letter of credit issues
  • Advise customers on payment terms
  • Obtain payment on delinquent accounts and complete accounting adjustments
  • Resolve billing issues and coordinate post-entry activities
  • Input accurate data and perform corrections in computer files
  • Conduct root cause analysis as directed
  • Manage entry verification process
  • Access external client systems as necessary
  • Correspond with business partners via written, phone, or email communications
  • Produce operational trend reports
  • Keep partners informed of exception processes
  • Respond to pre-alerts per customer SOP
  • Maintain knowledge of FedEx products and services
  • Interact with customers, staff, and management at all levels
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customer front-line personnel
  • Facilitate entry processing and resolve pre-arrival and post-arrival exceptions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
