Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Six months of brokerage or transportation and/or customer service experience preferred
  • Proficient with MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment such as phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle high volume of work and time-sensitive tasks
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented
  • Knowledge in HTS classification and harmonized tariff system
  • Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and other federal regulations and requirements
  • Willingness to work the scheduled third shift from Monday to Friday 9 PM to 5:30 AM EST
  • Ability to be hybrid working from Tonawanda, NY office
  • Paid training provided

Job Qualifications

  • Understanding of U.S. Customs regulations and federal requirements related to the role
  • Comfortable handling high volumes of time-sensitive work

Job Duties

  • Provide consistent customer service and resolution to ensure timely release or movement of freight
  • Prepare, analyze, and submit documentation to appropriate parties in accordance with customs laws and regulations
  • Anticipate, identify, and resolve problems delaying freight release or movement
  • Maintain relationships with brokers, T&B, and service providers to exceed customer service requirements
  • Resolve banking and letter of credit issues
  • Advise customers on payment terms
  • Obtain payment on delinquent accounts and complete accounting adjustments
  • Resolve billing issues and coordinate post-entry activities
  • Complete accurate data input or corrections into computer files
  • Perform root cause analysis as directed
  • Manage entry verification process
  • Correspond with business partners via written, phone, or email communication
  • Produce operational trend reports
  • Keep business partners informed of exception processes
  • Receive and respond to pre-alerts as per customer SOP
  • Maintain knowledge of FedEx products and services
  • Interact with customers, internal staff, and management
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customer's front-line personnel
  • Facilitate entry processing and exception resolution
  • Perform other assigned duties
