Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Six months of brokerage, transportation or customer service experience preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook required
  • Experience with office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner) required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle high volume and time sensitive tasks
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Detail oriented
  • Knowledge of HTS classification and harmonized tariff system
  • Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and federal requirements
  • Must reside within 50-mile radius of 555 Riverwalk Parkway, Tonawanda, NY
  • Availability for hybrid work schedule Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm EST

  • Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations and related federal requirements

Job Duties

  • Provide impeccable customer service
  • Prepare, analyze, and/or submit documentation to appropriate parties (U.S. Customs, agents, clients) to ensure compliance with customs laws and regulations
  • Anticipate, identify, and resolve issues delaying the release or movement of freight
  • Maintain relationships with correspondent brokers, transportation providers, and service partners to exceed customer service requirements
  • Resolve banking and letter of credit problems and advise customers on payment terms
  • Obtain payment on delinquent accounts and complete accounting adjustment forms as necessary
  • Resolve billing issues and coordinate post entry activity on customer behalf
  • Perform accurate data entry and corrections into computer files
  • Conduct root cause analysis as directed by Account Administrator
  • Manage entry verification process and coordinate post-entry activities
  • Access client external systems as needed
  • Communicate with business partners via written, phone, or email correspondence
  • Produce operational trend reports and keep partners updated on exception processes
  • Receive and respond to pre alerts per customer SOP
  • Maintain current knowledge of FedEx products and services
  • Interact with customers, internal staff, departments, and management at all levels
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customer front-line personnel
  • Facilitate entry processing and exception resolution pre and post arrival
  • Perform other duties as assigned
