Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Six months of brokerage, transportation, or customer service experience preferred
- Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook, and common office equipment including phone, fax, photocopier, printer, and scanner
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to handle high volume and time sensitive work
- Proven organizational and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain attention to detail
- Knowledge of HTS classification system
- Understanding of U.S. Customs and other federal import regulations
- Willingness to undergo paid training
- Availability to work Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm in a hybrid work environment based in Tonawanda, NY or Elk Grove Village, IL office
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong working knowledge of product classification using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule
- Familiarity with federal agency regulations relevant to imports
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Detail-oriented with good interpersonal skills
- Prior experience in brokerage, transportation, or customer service preferred
Job Duties
- Collect and enter data required for customs entry, entry summary, and single-entry bonds
- Determine accurate tariff classification and value for customs entry and entry summary
- Assess applicability of other government agencies' requirements and gather necessary information for declarations
- Input required data into systems for transmission to federal agencies such as FDA, EPA, and FCC
- Coordinate billing adjustments and resolve customs data rejections and census warnings
- Operate data entry equipment and input information in prescribed formats
- Maintain master files and classification data dictionaries under customer service coordinator guidance
- Monitor automated broker interface transmissions and correct errors
- Determine appropriate document distribution for customs, client, and internal files
- Collaborate with team members to provide high quality service
